The concept of building worlds is predicated on the idea that when communicating we form groups. These groups are the speakers and the listeners, those who are affected by our communications. We create social microcosms or collective groups of individuals who are listening to our ideas. Inherent in that also is the creation of groups that ignore our communications thereby fragmenting the complete social group into smaller groups. These smaller groups are interested in what the speaker is saying, or conversely disinterested. I can’t imagine a lot of ideas that our culture discusses that plainly do not exist in other cultures to some degree or another. Some of the ideas might be regional ideas, something that affects only our culture, but given the Internet as a communication medium, this is highly unlikely. I would imagine that if our culture discusses concepts or ideas to a lesser degree than another culture, we may be seen as less educated, or disinterested in that subject than other cultures, but this is a fallacious perspective. However, in the grand scheme of things, if our happiness or success is gauged based upon how we interact with other cultures, we might not be as “happy” as others.
